This car was registered in the UK in March 2013 by its current owner. Prior to that, the car was for sale with Gullwing Motor Cars of New York.
The American owner was a Mr William Whitehouse. He purchased the car new from Continental Motors of Illinois (who are still a Ferrari main agent today) on 16/01/1978, as stated in its original service book.
Between 1977 and 2001, the car had done 102,318 miles which by American standards is pretty average. We have in our possession a large amount of invoices detailing work carried out up until it was put into storage in 2002. It stayed locked up until the decision was made to sell it in 2011.
The current owner brought the car direct from Gullwing Motor Cars, and it was shipped to the UK in 2011. When he took delivery, the car was sent directly to Sandydown Bodyworks Ltd and they carried work including a bare metal re-spray (removing all rust and corrosion), a brake overhaul and also completed major service (including cam belts) all at a cost that totalled over £15k.
The car is now UK registered and in superb and original condition. As with many cars from this era, there is some scope for improvement on parts of the interior and cleanliness of the engine etc, but this will give the new owner the opportunity to add value to this good solid car.
